Unknown beauty
This one was thick stem and branches, thick leaves and downhanging pods that produced orange coloured blooms. Got it from my brother in Houston, TX and brought it home to zone 7b. Unfortunately I left it outside during the winter and it perished. Please help, I would like to have more of these. Thanks
Hi Michael, without knowing more about the rest of the plant, I have no clue about which family or genus this flower would belong to.
One clue to the identity of the plant itself is that the leaves and flower stems seem to be arranged opposite, which is a trait of several types of succulents – the one that comes to mind immediately is Kalanchoe, but I would need more information to be sure.

orange flowering plant

I have one of those plants with pink flowers instead of orange. It is a type of kalanchoe. When the stalks get too thick and heavy to stand, you can cut the flowering top section off and replant. It will regrow.

Thanks for the advice. Since posting this I have purchased several Kalanchoe plants and am interested to follow their growth throught the year. I like your tip about the top 🙂 Finding this wonderful site and getting help from others has been great.
