Bought a plant at a sale last year, but the tag was lost in transplanting. The picture showed drooping flowers, light in color. The owner described scent as similar to rotten meat, probably to attract specific pollinator. Stems have soft spines.
Drought Smart Plants: Hi Steve, the dead giveaway is the stench – these are known as Carrion Plants for just that characteristic. This is most likely either Huernia, or Stapelia, both of which are called by that common name. You can see more here about each of them:
