My mystery plant that I rescued from the office trash a year or more ago! It was almost dead, just a green tomato looking thing sitting in the soil with some dead tendrils.

But it revived with care and grew a big mess of more cute snaky tendrils.

I think it’s a succulent since the branches feel like they’re crisp and feel full of mostly water, but its also super bendy and flexible.

There’s no leaves really, just the bright green branching tendrils that come out of this large (hollow) bulb or tomato/apple-like fruit looking thing that sits atop the soil.

In the photo I’ve propped the plant up on a stick, but otherwise it would just be a bundle flopping over.

I’m finally wanting to ID it after all this time because its doing something new now! It sent up a new thicker tendril that has started climbing purposefully up our window cord! It’s never done any climbing before so its pretty different. Maybe a flowering branch?

Please help me figure it out!

Kewl!
by: Jacki

I love it, but I have no clue what it is. I think the long tendril will definitely have a flower, but who knows what that will look like.

I’ll keep searching for a name for you, and hopefully you’ll post again if/when it blooms.

Bowiea?
by: Roger

Possibly Bowiea volubis – Zulu potato. Google it and see what you think. Can’t understand why anyone would discard such a gem! Enjoy!!
