Old Rusty Kettle with Hens and Chicks
I love old rusty funky stuff, and this kettle just begged to be planted with hens and chicks – some people call them houseleeks, or sempervivums – whatever the name, they are one of my favorite plants.
They are tough and drought tolerant, and I don’t do anything to care for them, but they come back every year with new growth and baby chicks. Oddly, they never seem to get out of hand, and I can easily move any excess chicks as the stolons are brittle and snap off without any damage to the mother rosette.
