I always take my calla lilies indoors in autumn and the following spring I check them regularly to see if they´ve begun to sprout so that I can put them somewhere where there´s more light.
Just a few days ago I happened to glance at the pot and did a double take when I saw that they´d already begun to sprout. I´ve watered them and put them in a place where they´ll get daylight but am not sure now that I´ve done the right thing. Please advise.

No Choice

Once they’ve started sprouting, there’s no going back. I don’t know what planting zone you’re in, but they will need more than day light to keep them going until springtime. I strongly suggest that you get a grow light to give them enough light.
More on grow lights here.

Thank you

Thank you for the advice. I´ll have to get a grow light as it´s not very bright here in the winter.

Intensity and length
by: Jacki Cammidge, Certified Horticulturist
The intensity of the light is important, and so is the length of time they’re on – which means it’s important how long they’re off too – darkness is necessary for their health. I recommend twelve hours on, then twelve off to start.
