I purchased this string of pearls plant on March 17, 2022. It’s been in the same nursery pot since. It seems to be doing ok, but I’ve lost a good amount of pearls since then and some of the roots seem to be growing up out of the plant.

I did take the plant out of the pot and it didn’t seem too root bound. Also, I did purchase a new pot but I think it might be too big (the nursery pot is 9.47 fl oz.)

And I bought miracle grow cactus, palm, and citrus potting mix and a bag of perlite. Which I was going to mix together to repot it, but I’m unsure of what to do. So I would appreciate any help, thanks!

If the roots are showing, that’s a good call to repot it.

Sometimes what I do is use a bit bigger pot, then wind the strands around on the new soil so they get even more roots. Then let them trail over the edge. Or, cut them off, but that’s not even necessary with this plant.

PS: excellent choice of pot! These guys love terracotta pots, they are heavy enough to stay upright if the top growth gets overly ambitious, and also allow air exchange.

Your soil mix sounds good. The perlite will add drainage to it, which they appreciate. I would do about one part of perlite to two parts of the other soil, as it says for cactus. Let me know how it goes!
