Lucky Bamboo
My potted bamboo has flowered and produced loads of seeds. What do I do with them?

Draceana by: Jacki Cammidge, Certified Horticulturist The plant known as ‘lucky bamboo’ is not bamboo at all, it’s Draceana, usually D. sanderiana. The flowers are definitely not spectacular. They will no doubt fall off on their own as they finish the cycle, and it will go back to being just an ordinary plant. In the case of the flowers producing seeds, I wouldn’t allow them to fall into any other plants, where they might germinate. I don’t think they’re much of a pest, but if they escape, they could become one. This might be a good time to trim the plant back, to get rid of the seeds and hopefully reinvigorate the plant. |
