Concrete Patio

I have a concrete patio that I would like to plant some Dwarf Albert Spruce trees around for privacy. My concern is as they get bigger will their roots damage my concrete patio?

Spruce trees in general don’t have invasive roots, dwarf Alberta spruce even less.

They tend to be very compact, and the will most likely not damage the patio.

The only way they might is if they don’t have enough root room, if for instance, the soil is very shallow and you water the patio to wash it a lot.

Then the roots might tend to grow directly underneath the concrete, but it’s unlikely that they would buckle it or damage it.

Usually, the top growth reflects the root growth, so in the case of dwarf Alberta spruce, the roots will be very compact.
