I’ve had a sad couple of weeks. Watching your old dog get sicker and show more pain every day is so awful. Finally, I was forced to let him go – after 15 years of being my steadfast companion. He helped me garden up until a few years ago when we both got past it, and watched out for bears, chipmunks, squirrels and deer coming too close. RIP dear Bracken.

I’ve spent many peaceful hours building crafts and planting them with hardy succulents like Sedum and Sempervivum. They are not long lived, but they sure are effective while they last.
